PUPPY LOVE

It was love at first sight when Kath Lovegrove met Dingo puppy Tambo for the first time.

"He is so adorable and handsome," she said.

Kath named Tambo as part of public naming competition. "It's after the mighty Tambo River that has its source in the high country of East Gippsland, where I grew up," Kath explained.

Kath and husband Jeff won a behind-the-scenes experience with the puppies and keepers.

The keepers love the name Tambo, also chosen by Guy Cooper-Matiland who said the Tambo River was "rugged, flowing and free". The keepers say that the name suits Tambo well.

Tambo and his sister Jinda have made the big move from their nursery at the Australian Wildlife Health Centre to the Dingo Country exhibit, where they have spent the past two nights.

They will be on display every day of the school holidays, where visitors can meet them.
