Named because of the soft little noises she makes, Squeaks the ringtail possum has been taken in by the Sanctuary's resident 'Possum Girl', vet nurse Kim Hollis.

Found in Healesville, the tiny possum is about 100 days old and weighs a meagre 40 grams, about the half the weight she should be for her age. She has tiny burn sores to her feet and was suffering severe dehydration when she was brought to the Sanctuary. Vet nurse Kim has lovingly tended to her wounds and is helping her re-adjust to life without her mother. Kim believes that her mother, after enduring the stress and trauma of the nearby fires, abandoned her. She is fed four hourly and is recovering in a tiny pouch that for now she calls home.
