Free Guided Tours of the Walking Trails
Werribee Open Range Zoo’s volunteer guides offer free one-hour tours. The guides have undergone an extensive training course with Zoo staff and other experts, covering topics ranging from the history of the Zoo, specific animal information, and grasslands flora and fauna. Guides are available most days, but it is preferable to book, especially for large groups.

The Meerkat Bistro
Located just past the Safari Shop.
Open 9am - 5pm daily.

The licensed Meerkat Bistro offers a large indoor seated dining area which interfaces the meerkat exhibit offering close viewing of the cheeky meerkats at play.  With access to a large sunny deck and outdoor tables it also has superb views over the gorilla island exhibit.   Choose from a variety of cooked to order meals including gourmet burgers, pizzas and curries as well as a selection of freshly made sandwiches, hot pies, pastries and sweet treats.  A dedicated children's menu is available, you'll be able to keep everyone in the family happy.

The Meerkat Kiosk
Located adjacent to the Meerkat Bistro.
Open 11am - 2.30pm weekends and public holidays.

Enjoy a large variety of take-away food including freshly made sandwiches, gourmet pies, hot snacks, kids lunch packs, ice-cream, confectionery and hot or cold drinks.  Take a seat in the courtyard next to the Kiosk or feel free to wander to the lawns in The African Village near the playground to enjoy your meal outdoors.   

Bus Groups
Special group menus are available for bus groups coming for lunch, morning tea or afternoon tea.  These must be pre-booked and pre-paid through Liberty Catering and will be available from the Meerkat Bistro.

Barbeque and Picnic Facilities
Visitors are welcome to bring picnic food into Werribee Open Range Zoo.

Please note: the barbecue facility is only available when the barbecue area is hired. Barbecues are not available for casual use by visitors. Group picnic sites or barbecue areas can be booked through the bookings office (site fees apply):

Please do not feed the animals. Human food does not form part of a naturally balanced diet for our wildlife.

Safari Shop
The Safari Shop is a great place to buy quality African and Australian gifts and souvenirs. Stamps are also available. All profits from the shop contribute to the care and upkeep of the Zoo’s animals and plants.Open every day 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Wheelchairs and Pushers
Werribee Open Range Zoo has an easy-to-follow pathway system with access for people using wheelchairs and pushers. Wheelchairs are also available from the Ticket Office ($22 hire, fully refundable deposit).

All prices are GST inclusive.
