New Zoo Wonderland for Tiny Tots
Werribee Open Range Zoo today launched three new amazing adventures for pre-school children, including an interactive musical dance theatre.
More than a hundred dancing tiny tots helped to launch the new activities: Village Dance Party, Junior Safari and Mini Zoo Keepers.
Village Dance Party is a wonderland of movement and music featuring silhouettes of dancing characters on a large screen that inspires children and light-hearted adults to dance, laugh and learn (11am-3pm).
Special zoo songs, written by popular Melbourne musician Lamine Sonko, encourage the children to play bongos, wiggle hips, stamp feet and ‘call animals to water'.
Junior Safari is an energetic and playful 35-minute bus tour for young children and their families. The tours feature puppets, music and lots of animal action, and will run daily during the school holidays, then every Tuesday after the holidays.
Mini Zoo Keepers is a special 90-minute experience which includes face-to-face encounters with lots of fascinating animals, a meerkat feed and a giraffe encounter (bookings required).
Werribee Open Range Zoo Director, Sally Lewis, said these adventures were fun, educational and highly interactive.
"These adventure-filled activities make our Zoo one of the most exciting and imaginative destinations for families with pre-school children," Ms Lewis said.
"We also think it is one of the best value family destinations in town. Aside from Mini Zoo Keepers, the new adventures are completely free, included in the general admission - and children under four years old receive free zoo entry.
"We know that children and their parents will absolutely love these new experiences."
