They may be too young to vote but school students across the country are about to make their voices heard on important subjects like palm oil and bushfire and wildlife recovery. It's all thanks to a new digital learning revolution led by the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

Cheetah check-ups

Two of Werribee Open Range Zoo's cheetahs, Kaidi and Inkosana, were given routine health checks this week. The seven-year-old brothers underwent a general examination by the zoo's senior veterinary team and also endoscopic tests by specialists from the Melbourne Veterinary Specialist Centre.

Healesville Sanctuary has today asked every Australian to join a toilet revolution and think of native wildlife next time they pay a visit to the loo. Healesville Sanctuary Director John Gibbons said the cheeky Wipe for Wildlife campaign will encourage Australian households to switch to toilet paper made from recycled sources.

Going Going Gone? The Plight of the Southern Cassowary

Zoos Victoria is proud to announce their support of The Rainforest Information Centre's (RIC) new nationwide campaign, Save the Cassowary, launched on Wednesday, 23 June. The tropical rainforests of Far North Queensland are home to this unique animal, Australia's second largest bird. The Southern Cassowary is vital to the rainforest as it disperses and germinates seeds of up to 150 rainforest plant species.

Chloe's race to save orang-utans

Melbourne Zoo's bachelor gorillas to go west

Melbourne Zoo's silverback gorilla, Motaba and his two sons Yakini and Ganyeka will soon be settling in to a brand new bachelor pad at Werribee Open Range Zoo.

The Victorian Government has provided the lion's share of funding announcing they will finance $1.5 million to build the important new exhibit.

Zoos Victoria has kicked off a campaign to raise the remaining $700,000 to complete the exhibit.

Woolworths takes lead on Palm Oil labelling issue

Woolworths has taken the lead on the palm oil labelling issue, announcing that they will label palm oil on all of their private label products.

The major retailer has also committed to using 100% certified sustainable palm oil by 2015 and applying for membership on the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
